Testing, Adjusting, Balancing (TAB), are the three major steps used to achieve proper operation of heating,
ventilating and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems.
1. Testing: Specialized and calibrated instruments are used to measure temperatures,
pressures, rotational speeds, electrical characteristics, velocities and air and water
(hydronic) quantities for an evaluation of equipment and system performance.
2. Adjusting: Balancing devises like dampers and valves are partially closed or opened
and fan and pump speeds are varied to allow a system to operate within the proper
specifications.
3. Balancing: Air and hydronic flows are monitored carefully for optimum performance
of design limits.
NEBB Certified TAB Services
the National Environmental Balancing Bureau (NEBB), established in 1971, is the premier international certification association for firms that perform testing, adjusting and balancing (TAB) of heating, ventilating and air-conditioning systems in addition to building systems commissioning, sound and vibration measurement, retro-commissioning, fume hood testing and clean-room performance certification. NEBB is proud to have over 600 certified firms with over 900 qualified supervisors worldwide.
New Construction Balancing
New HVAC systems cannot operate effectively and efficiently without proper balancing. The Ferreira Group’s NEBB Certified TAB professionals using instrumentation certified by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) will meet or exceed the requirements of any balancing specification.
Existing Building Re-Balancing
Buildings that have been in operation for some time often develop balancing issues caused by changes in use/occupancy,
renovations and adjustments by maintenance personnel. These can all contribute to significant operational,
comfort and energy efficiency problems. The Ferreira Group will evaluate the changes the building has undergone since its original
construction and provide a plan to rebalance your building.
TAB Contractor Oversight / Supervision
The Ferreira Group can provide oversight and supervision of your current TAB contractor to make sure they are providing complete,
accurate and impartial TAB services and reports that meet NEBB standards (even if they are not a certified TAB contractor).
Balancing Report Reviews
The Ferreira Group can evaluate TAB reports submitted by your current TAB contractor to ensure they meet the TAB specifications and/or NEBB standards. |
